CanWest Attempts to Halt Free Speech Satirists
As many know, CanWest is dealing with some debt and bankruptcy issues at the moment. Though despite this, CanWest is still attempting to sue activists who produced a spoof of The Vancouver Sun. The parody was four pages long and mainly concerned itself with satirizing CanWest's pro-Israel bias. CanWest's founder, Izzy Asper, has formerly admitted to the pro-Israel approach all of their papers (The Vancouver Sun, The Province, The National Post, and more) have taken in the past. So to combat this bias, the parody was created and CanWest was not impressed.
Art Threat posted an article regarding this issue titled: "CanWest Continues Anti-Satire Lawsuit Despite Looming Bankruptcy".
CanWest's lawsuit against the activists' parody of The Vancouver Sun is an attack on free speech. The following video and text display "Canwest's Global War on Satire" in further detail.
